V2 Security Conference
Very soon, there will be a massive security conference happening in Copenhagen. It’s called V2 Security 2022. On the 4 and 5 of May, approximately 3000 visitors will have a chance to upgrade their knowledge about IT security, cloud solutions, and compliance. With 100 seminars and international speakers such as Max Schrems, Graham Doyle, Mikko Hypponen, and Thorsheim, the security conference sounds promising and very exciting.
What’s the benefit of joining such an event?
First, you get a chance to learn something new in a setting of like-minded people. With a daily grind at your job and the importance of delivering the results, you forget to continue learning. Life should be a continuous learning journey, and these conferences are one way of upgrading your knowledge.
Second, you get to network and meet new people. Excuse me for my generalization here. Many tech people are timid and prefer to sit in front of their computers all day. These conferences allow you to go against your nature and step outside your bubble. Maybe an encounter at the conference will bring you a new idea, a spark of energy to venture into new areas and explore.
My motivations for going there are knowledge and the possibility of meeting new people.
Which seminars will I attend?
I registered for four presentations. I start my day with Fast and Furious Attacks: Using AI to Surgically-Respond by Marley Hasselbach from Darktrace. Even if I had a chance to play with Darktrace, I want to hear a discussion related to real-world threat finds.
Then I continue with Rubrik – How to recover quickly from a ransomware attack and Ransomware: how did we get here, and where are we going? As you can see, both seminars are related to ransomware. Finally, I want to learn the future trajectory of this trend and its implications for the next decade.
I end my day with Yubico – How to Stop Account Takeovers at Scale (While Keeping Users Happy). I am an avid user of Yubico keys and biased because I love this product. I believe a lot of companies could benefit from a physical 2FA solution. Hackers can hack phones. A physical key it’s harder to steal because you need to be in a building.
