Insights from Broadcom Partner Momentum Summit 2023
A few weeks ago, my colleagues and I attended Broadcom Partner Momentum Summit 2023. We are a small cybersecurity company from Denmark called LCG. We work with multiple clients nationwide to provide cybersecurity advisories, technical support, incident response, and other services.
We were there because meeting people in person, networking, and hearing the latest industry trends and challenges is always good. Broadcom Inc. is a global infrastructure technology leader that attracts a lot of exciting companies and individuals to these events.
What did we learn besides great Spanish weather, tasty wine, fine cuisine, and good company? Cybersecurity is here to stay, no matter the economic situation in the world. Yes, prices are rising, GDP forecasts continue deteriorating, and things look bleak. Still, the increase in ransomware attacks, according to IDC, will remain a severe threat and business opportunity for all of us that work in the cybersecurity industry.
There is no turning back now. To operate the business, you have to invest in your cybersecurity posture. According to IDC, CIOs know that, so 57% of the surveyed expect budgets to increase in 2023. They will for sure allocate some of this investment to cybersecurity.
Another compelling prediction that might become true by 2025 is that approximately 50 percent of CEOs might start demanding security metrics to assess the value of their investments. For example, when I worked as a SOC analyst, our manager asked us to provide data regarding security alerts. The company wanted to know how many alerts we received daily in each security system.
We gave them that data with graphs, amounts, and tables. This exercise was an excellent way to introduce transparency in our daily activities. It is a win-win for all of us. Executives are happy, and specialists are too.
These are just two insights and possible outcomes of the future regarding cybersecurity. There were plenty of talks and much more to learn. Even two days for us was a success, and I am sure plenty of people feel the same, no matter how many days they spent at the conference.
Broadcom Inc. did a fantastic job organizing this event. The venue was relatively easy to reach. Once inside, it was easy to navigate. All rooms had informational boards. The app was also available to see the latest agenda. We will be attending more Broadcom events in the future. See you there!
