Reviving the Cyber Journey: A Comeback to Learning After a Brief Pause
I am back! There has been a few month’s pause regarding writing. Honestly, it felt weird not to type on my beloved keyword. Anyway, I am here. Let me explain what I did do during my downtime.
New Passions
I started diving into new topics thanks to No Starch Press. They have a fantastic library of exciting books. I have bought two new books. The first is titled Codebreaking, and the second is Practical Vulnerability Management. Both books are great. They are well-written and have a good value for newcomers.
I especially love Codebreaking. As the book description states, Codebreaking is the most up-to-date resource on cryptanalysis published since World War II—essential for modern forensic codebreakers and designed to help amateurs unlock some of history’s greatest mysteries.
Codes, encrypted texts, and gibberish symbols are a fascinating world of mystery and intrigue. It is a mentally stimulating activity that complements my career in Cybersecurity.
Tangible Focus Areas
Cybersecurity is like a candy store. You go to it, and you are overwhelmed with tasty choices. I finally know what I want to do in this field and which aspects fascinate me. Here is a list:
- Vulnerability Assessment
- Incident Response
- API and Web App Security
Armed with this information, I can finally focus on what matters. There are many cybersecurity courses, but focus areas help me trim it down.
Don’t stretch yourself too much when learning. Always identify what matters and fascinates you.
That’s it for now. Thanks for reading, and see you.
