My first impression of the TryHackMe platform
I just wanted to share a quick update. I joined the TryHackMe platform to practice my skills. I was pleasantly surprised about the ease of use and learning materials.
What particularly struck me was the fact of gamification. It makes you want to learn the material. Your typical video course or book is as good as you are if you force yourself to stay on a path. Kudos to you.
With gamification and those silly streaks, you put yourself on the right path. I see the potential of this platform.
How to Begin
When you join TryHackMe for the first time, you input your details, choose an appropriate level, and you are off to the races.
You are presented with a choice. To use it with a free account or pay for a premium. What premium gives you?
- Access to all premium learning content
- You get your own browsed based Kali Machine
- All learning paths
- Private OpenVPN servers
- Machines start faster
All of this cost around 10 pounds monthly. I bet most of us want to focus on Cybersecurity on a long-term basis. Ten pounds are a good investment into your future. I highly recommend it.
Paths
Paths consist of Junior Penetration Tester, Pre Security, Cyber Defense, Complete Beginner, Offensive Pentesting, CompTIA Pentest+, and Web Developments.
If you are starting on your cybersecurity path, I advise you to pick up the easiest way. You will level up in no time.
Conclusion
That concludes my first take on the TryHackMe platform. Of course, there is so much more to tell, but that’s for another article. I am still exploring the platform.
